Sacred Devotion Site Improvements

Site Improvements

You’ll notice plenty of changes are happening to Sacred Devotion and that is also why posts have been slow. In the long term goal of making Sacred Devotion a community site for all Christians and people wanting to learn about Christianity, I switched to a new web application which meant a total site reinstall and the forum is now back up in a new version. The updates are still in progress so you’ll notice a few more changes in the coming months and we hope that it won’t cause more downtime.

New Features

Sub-blogs

In order to keep the site more organized without being too complicated, the Bible study, and Christian Music Lyrics sections have been moved into sub-blogs of Sacred Devotion as subdirectories. You can get to them easily by clicking on their names in the sidebar. Please note that the categories you see are for each sub-blog. Sub-blog content is not shown in the main blog’s categories either. This means that I’ll be able to categorize Bible study, and lyrics to a greater degree without making you have to click as much.

User blogs

As a new community feature, visitors to the site can sign up for a free Christian blog which will show up in the sidebar list. You’ll be able to set your own categories, write posts, and select a theme. Currently there are only a few themes available, but I’ll be happy to upload some more as soon as I see some visitor blogs sign up and one or two user posts. You can also request the addition of a certain theme to the site as soon as you have 2 posts in your blog. You can e-mail me though the contact-us page on the main blog.

I only ask that you keep your blog unoffensive and non-discriminatory. Offensive blog posts will be removed by the administrator. This site is for sharing Christianity as Jesus taught us, NOT for political posturing or holier-than-thou attitudes shown on other “Christian sites”. Conservative vs. Liberal view points can be discussed in a loving non-personal way in the forum.

Future improvements

We are working on letting you create user groups, friend lists, personal photo galleries, and more. Those features are not quite ready to go public and should be at least partially working some time this summer or early fall.
